Specifics

Thanks Carrie for encouraging me to be more specific about what God is doing. I thought I would post those specifics.So here is what I said in a previous post and then I'll explain: "I am excited to be back in Louisville. God has really been working in me about being thankful for all the gifts he has given us here." I have realized that I am so quick to say how much I miss Boston to others and so slow to thank God for his favor over us right now. Favor because Josh is doing well in his classes (making good grades and loving the whole experience), God gave us a job that works with school and provides our needs, we have a church that we like and a community group to be a part of and people to get to know, I have made one close friend and they have two kids close in age to our kids, I have outlets for our kids to play with other kids, I have a neighbor who has offered to keep the kids so we can go on a date, we have a few friends who drop by to say hello and feel welcome in our home which is so important. So those are a few specifics. Yes I miss Boston but I was convicted that I needed to think upon my blessings and not what I no longer have. Because I am influenced by my words and even though I am thankful the more I was saying how much I miss Boston the more I missed it so I needed to think upon the gifts God has given us here in thought and my words. Is it hard? Yes. Is our schedule busy? Yes. But has God been faithful to give us breaks and provide what we need. It is growing us and stretching us to all pull together so that he can go to school and we can all prepare for ministry.
The past two days have been intense with Jack- he is trying us in every way. But then today was so much better. He just keeps testing out the water to see what he can get away with. I am realizing more and more how much I need God for every moment of parenthood. It's true parenthood is hard work.
