May 2006 Newsletter

Dear friends and family,

We are joyful to announce Isabel Ruth is a healthy(!) baby and we are getting more sleep at night. Josh has had the opportunity to teach the past few months in our church on 2 Timothy. This experience has stretched us and challenged us to go deeper in the Word and in our relationships. We continue to open our home on Sunday morning to deepen our relationships and invite new friends into our community. On Easter we had a family from Denmark and ended up with 5 kids in our home under the age of 3!

This fall, Josh will continue to pursue a Master of Divinity at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. We look forward to the growth and education, but we feel so sad to leave our church family. Josh will be transferring to a Starbuck’s in Louisville and will start school in the fall. We are praying Josh can work part-time in the fall to balance family, school and work. We learned from our year in seminary here in Boston that working full-time and going to school full-time was too much for our family.

Since we are transitioning to seminary, you will receive another letter with the specifics of our financial budget and plan for school. We will continue to partner with the Oasis Church, but our focus will change from the mission of church-planting to the mission of education in preparation for church planting and missions. For now, you can continue to send support through Oasis Church, and it will be tax-deductible. We can not thank you enough for your prayerful and financial support of our ministry over the past three years. Please continue to pray we will rest in God’s providence. As we transition our lives to seminary, we also ask you to continue praying with us that God will build up our stamina for ministry and kindle our zeal for reaching the lost.

We give thanks for all your love and prayers!

Mouse in the House

For about two weeks we had a furry friend in our house. We named him Jerry! Jerry the mouse was very bold and would come out around the same time every night whether the lights were out or not. He loved our house I'm afraid to say. I even saw him jumping in the doorway of our bedroom. Needless to say I was anxious to kill the mouse and feel the freedom to walk barefoot again. I bought a "girl mousetrap" as Josh would say because it was the type that kills the mouse and you never have to see it. Well we watched the mouse check it out but never enter. So one night we set up the old-fashioned kind and within 5 minutes he came running down the hall and ran right into it. I don't think he even knew it was there- his pride got him! Josh and I saw the whole thing happen. This city mouse was crazy!

Fenway Park

Josh and I had the most wonderful evening. I just went to my first Red Sox game and it was amazing. It truly is a Boston experience in every way. We had standing room only tickets but we ended up with great seats for the last 3 innings. This lady came up to us and said she and her husband were leaving and we could have their seats. It was great! I drank a soda fountain coke which is my favorite and got to sing to "Sweet Caroline" with the rest of the crowd, and got to sit with my hubby uninterupted by children, and I could go on but it was great.
